Portland Cement Type 2

Portland cement Type 2 Application

  1. In cases that a cautious action is needed towards average attack of sulfates.
  2. Because of hydration reaction in low speed in this type of cement less heat is produced. So this type of cement can be used in almost massive structures like large pillars of big bridges and heavy retaining walls.
  3. Using this type of cement increases the temperature, this specialty is important in formwork in hot weather.
  4. In addition to aforesaid cased in all the cases that Portland cement type 1 is applied I mean this type of cement can be used where a special cautious action is not considered.

Portland Slag Cement

Portland Slag Cement Application

Slag is the material collected on top of blast kiln of smelting iron and known as waste products of steel industry. If slag is gets cold slowly, it is crystal shape that is not consumed a lot. But if we make it cold fast, it gets amorphous or glassy that is used after milling, is applied in cement industry. While milling the slag you have to pay attention that where slag hardness is more that cement, each of them has to be milled separately and finally mix them. In Iran slag cement is divided to 3 kinds that will be said as follows:

  1. Portland slag cement with less than 25% of slag
  2. Portland slag anti sulfate cement with 25 to 70% of slag
  3. Portland slag cement with more than 70% of slag

Portland Pozzolan Cement Application

Portland Pozzolan Cement Application

This type of cement more in addition to the general uses, is used in huge structures as well, because It has less hydration heat that Cement type 1 and 2 and the most important advantage of this cement is its  more chemical resistance and this type of cement is recommended in environments that the  sulfates and Clare attack is more probable. Speed of growing resistance in this type of cement is less than cement type 2 and type 5 but in long term loss of resistance is recovered.

We should pay attention that to increase concrete’s workability you must not increase the proportion of water more than cement, on the other hand because of low speed and hydration heat and slow pozzolan reaction with cement compounds curing concrete with pozzolan cement has to be continuous and wet and in other words the concrete curing situation in comparison with Portland cements has to be provided for longer time.

Totally important specialties of concrete made of Pozzolan concrete are less permeability, high durability and favorable chemical resistant.
